Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about my local photo scanning process.

Why should I digitize my photos?

Physical photos are priceless keepsakes for many families, but they are incredibly fragile. Over time they are prone to color fading, water damage, or simply being lost. Digitizing them not only preserves those memories forever, but also makes them instantly shareable with friends and family anywhere in the world.

What equipment do you use to scan the photos?

I use an enterprise-grade Epson scanner. The absolute highest priority during this process is the safety of your memories. The scanner features extremely gentle handling mechanisms specifically designed to ensure your delicate originals are completely protected against bending, scratching, or damage of any kind. They will be returned to you in the exact same condition they arrived in.

What formats and sizes do you scan?

I currently scan standard physical prints (3x5, 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10) as well as polaroids. At this time, I am unable to process film strips, negatives, slides, or oversized photos larger than 8x10.

Do you scan the backs of photos if they have handwriting?

Yes! If your photos have dates, names, or notes written on the back, the digitization process automatically detects and captures the handwriting alongside the image so that context is never lost.

Do you color correct or restore damaged photos?

Yes! The digitization process automatically applies subtle color correction and basic dust removal to gently restore the vibrancy of older, faded photos.

Do I need to sort my photos before dropping them off?

Not at all! I handle the sorting and orientation for you. You just simply drop off your box with the photos as-is.

Do I have to mail my photos?

No, I am a local business based in Alexandria, VA. I require you to drop off and pick up your photos locally, ensuring they never get lost in the mail.

How long does the digitization process take?

Most standard collections are completed within 3 to 5 business days. I will always provide you with an exact estimate when you drop them off.

Are my photos kept private?

Absolutely. I am the only person who will ever see or handle your memories. Your files are delivered directly to you via a secure, private link, and I permanently delete all local copies from my drives once you confirm receipt.

How do I receive my digital files?

Once your photos are digitized, I will send you a secure Google Drive link where you can download your high-resolution images. The link will remain active for 15 days.

How and when do I pay?

Since I am a single-person business, I currently accept payment via Venmo or Zelle. You only pay after your digitized photos have been delivered to you.
